Tigers gearing up for Area Tournament

By Staff
Nick Johnston, Hartselle Enquirer
Will there be practice Monday?
It all depends on Saturday night at Athens High School, as the Hartselle Tigers begin the Area 15 Tournament against rival Cullman.
Should Hartselle win, the Tigers would be guaranteed a spot at Sub-State.
However, past Saturday night, nothing is being planned.
Hartselle must beat Cullman in order to keep the season alive.
"We're all about Cullman right now," head coach Johnny Berry said. "This is a key game, and we haven't watched any film on any either team."
Hartselle has played Cullman twice this year, losing there and winning in the Pettey Center. According to Berry, his team knows what to expect, but so do the Bearcats.
"It will be a good game," Berry said. "It could go either way. It's on a neutral floor, so this will be like the tie-breaker."
The Tigers will contend with Justin Hollingsworth, who scored 34 in the team's first match this season. Joseph McPhillips also has proven to

be a solid shooter, hitting several three pointers against Hartselle in the Tigers' win.
Very few things will be done different Saturday night, according to Berry.
"We'll add a little wrinkle, but nothing major," Berry said. "We just have to execute and do what we know to do. That's the way I've always coached."
Should Hartselle win, the Tigers would face off against either Athens or Brewer. Should Hartselle lose, it's time for baseball season to begin.
"They're (Cullman) not going to give us wide open looks," Berry said. "We have to hit the shots we get. Somebody will have to make plays at the end of the game, and I feel we will do that. But, coach (Mike) Dean feels they will."
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
On the girl's side, Brewer and Hartselle will face off at 6 p.m. Friday night. The winner will likely see Athens in the finals.
