Alton Owen

Funeral for Alton Owen, 88, of Hartselle was Friday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating.
Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Owen died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Hartselle Medical Center. A native of Morgan County, he was retired in 1977 after 32-1/2 years as a Somerville-area mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. The Postal Service presented him with safe driving awards because he never had a mishap on the job. He was also a member of the Postal Service's "One Hundred Percent Club," an exclusive club for postal workers who attain perfect scores on all Postal Service examinations. Mr. Owen was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hartselle and was the father of the late George M. Owen. He was the brother of the late Arthur Owen and Dee Owen.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie McKay Owen of Hartselle; one daughter, Margarue O. Garner of Hartselle; one sister, Lucille Smith of Decatur; one granddaughter; and one great granddaughter.
Pallbearers were Bobby Garner, Curtis McGregor, Bobby Gann, James Glasgow, Art Glasgow and Euel James.
