Danville-Neel Elementary School is certainly achieving its vision for "Every-day…Educational Excellence."
The Council for Leaders in Alabama School (C.L.A.S.), the professional organization representing Alabama School administrators, recently announced that Danville-Neel Elementary School has been selected as one of 12 Banner Schools in the state for 2002-2003.
This is the fourth major award the school and its faculty have received this school year.
"This is a huge honor," Danville-Neel Elementary School Principal Jeremy Jones said. "Not only does it recognize the school community, but it also recognizes excellence in the classroom."
The Banner School award is sponsored annually to recognize Alabama schools that have been nominated for outstanding educational programs.
C.L.A.S. praised Danville-Neel for offering "variety and excitement in the instructional program." The report also commended the school for its commitment from the school community.
"From the moment you step foot in the doorway of Danville-Neel Elementary School, the child is encompassed by effective instruction, effective learning, and love," the report stated.
"This is a very loving environment," Jones said. "Each child is a star at Danville-Neel and is supported and loved as an individual."
Danville-Neel Elementary will receive a visit Feb. 2, 2003, from Alabama school administrators who will observe the innovative ideas and teaching strategies that are delivered daily at the school.
Jones said even though the school is very excited about the visit, it will be a normal school day.
"Teachers will be teaching children," Jones said. "That's what the observers will be here to see."
The school will also be recognized for its award at the C.L.A.S. Convention in Birmingham.
"Here at Danville-Neel, we emphasize the word 'fun,'" Jones said. "We laugh and celebrate our successes. Life is too short not to celebrate and have fun with learning."
