No. 1 HHS picks up pair of wins

Hartselle’s top-ranked volleyball team improved its record to 18-7 overall by scoring back-to-back wins in a tri-match on Thursday.

The Lady Tigers defeated Homewood 25-11, 25-22 and Brewer 25-12, 25-18.

Hartselle’s scoring leaders against Homewood were Haley Jared with seven kids, two blocks and three digs and Taylor Dellinger with seven kills and three digs. Taylor Lybarger scored two kills, a block and six digs, Melissa Paul Hill had a kill, seven aces, 16 assists and four digs and Sarah Ellen Battles had six digs.

In the Brewer match, Dellinger had nine kills, a block, an assist and 11 digs. Lybarger followed with five kills and 15 digs, Jared had three kills, a bock and eight digs, Hill scored five kills; an ace, 14 assists and seven digs, Battles had an ace and 15 digs and Tori Miller had six digs and an ace.
