Lady Tigers log 4-1 record in tournament

Hartselle High School’s volleyball team logged four straight wins at the Briarwood Christian School Tournament in Shelby County on Saturday before losing to Oak Mountain in the semifinal round.

Pool play wins were recorded against Parker, 25-12-25-13; Gardendale, 25-14,25-15; and Chelsea, 26-24, 25-15.

The Lady Tigers also eliminated Pope John Paul II (Catholic) 25-21 and 25-16 in the opening round of tournament play.

They lost to Oak Mountain in three games, 25-12, 19-25 and 10-15.

Sophomore Taylor Dellinger led the Lady Tiger in kills with 30 She also had 24 digs, four blocks, three aces and an assist.

Scoring by other players follows: Taylor Lybarger, 24 kills, 38 digs, six aces, three bocks and two assists; Haley Jared, 20 kills, 20 digs, 48 assists, eight blocks and four aces; Melissa Paul Hill, 19 kills, 13 digs, 45 assists, six aces and three blocks; Kaylee Shelton, 18 kills, five digs and four blocks; Tori Denslow, f our kills, four blocks and an assist; Tori Miller, 15 digs; Natalie Johnson, six digs; and Alley Orr, one ace.
