Funeral for Dr. William L. Hacker, 87, of Hartselle will be Wed., Aug. 15, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hartselle with Dr. Jeff Redmond, Dr. Jere Patterson and the Rev. Archie Hampton officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tues., Aug. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dr. Hacker died Sun., Aug. 12, 2012, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born March 6, 1925, in Jefferson County to William Larkin Hacker Sr. and Cora Estelle Boston Hacker. Dr. Hacker was a member of the Decatur Amateur Radio Club “Ham Radio” and was a radio operator while in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He enjoyed traveling with the “Pryme Timers” of First Baptist Church in Hartselle. He was the director of missions for the Morgan County Baptist Association for 28 years and was the pastor of Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church of Decatur, First Baptist Church of Centre and Fifth Avenue Baptist in Decatur. He also did several interim pastorates in Cullman County after retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel T. Hacker of Hartselle; two daughters, Peggy Jo Suggs and husband Jeff of Courtland and Susan Elaine Bollinger and husband Lee of Plano, Tex.; seven surviving grandchildren, Bree Holland and husband Josh, Jenna Staples, April Brackin and husband Adam, Chase Suggs, Amanda Bollinger, Ashley Manley and husband Josh and Andrew Bollinger; two great-grandchildren, Adley Brackin and Peyton Manley.

Pallbearers will be Gail Dunn, Jim Tilley, Frank Ellis, Lee Bollinger, James David Edmonson, Patrick Bynum, Jeff Suggs and Dwight Porter.
