Janet Kathleen Halbrooks

Janet Kathleen Halbrooks of Hixson, Tenn., died March 31, 2025, at the Solomon’s House nursing facility in Red Bank, Tenn. She was born October 11, 1934, to George and Vlasta Janecek Ourada in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, where she attended grade school. Her family moved to Rock Island, Illinois, where she attended junior high school. The family moved again to Wrightstown, New Jersey, where she finished high school. After high school she was a civil service employee and worked at Fort Dix Army Base, then at McGuire Air Force Base with a topsecret clearance. She married Perry G. Halbrooks and moved to Decatur, Alabama, and later to Huntsville, Alabama, before moving to Hixson, Tennessee. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother, George Ourada, Jr.; sisters, Vlasta Beadle, Marcy Johnson, all from New Jersey; and her son, Travis Zane Halbrooks from Hixson, Tennessee. Survivors include her husband, Perry G. Halbrooks; her son, T. Glenn Halbrooks (Apryl); three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of life in Alabama at a later date.
