Prep softball roundup: Brewer gets multiple wins over county foes

The Brewer Patriots picked up three wins before weather brought everything to a grinding halt. In other games, Priceville, Danville and Falkville all had wins to round out the week.
Brewer 13, West Morgan 3
Brewer’s bats got hot in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring seven runs to boost them past West Morgan. LC Hamilton had a stellar performance offensively, as she batted 4-4 with two doubles, 3 RBIs, scoring twice, and stealing three bases. The Patriots recorded a total of 20 hits.
Brewer 4, Danville 3
The inner-county foes each scored a run in the second inning, but Brewer scored three in the bottom of the third. Danville responded with two runs in the top of the fourth. Brewer’s Taylor Pellam batted 3-3 with two runs. Braelynn Reed batted in two Patriots runners. Tamara Hutto had two hits and two runs for the Hawks.
Brewer 11, Fairview 4 The Patriots made quick work of the Aggies Friday night. Cheyenne Lucas scored three times. Abby Summerford and Taylor Pellam recorded 3 RBIs while LC Hamilton contributed with two of her own. Kaelyn Matkin had two hits, including a double.
Danville 15, Lexington 0 The Hawks flew past the Golden Bears on Monday. Aubrey Reed hit two home runs for the Hawks. Ellie Tucker joined in with a homer of her own. Kirsten Robinson batted 3-4 with two doubles and scored two runs. Jada Weaver also hit a couple doubles, going 3-4 in the batter’s box while scoring a run. Pitcher Tamara Hutto hit 3 for 3, reaching home three times while striking out five batters and recording the win.
Danville 15, Lexington 5 The Hawks had a great late game push, scoring 13 runs in the last three innings, to help them soar past Lexington. Kennedy Borden earned the win in the circle, striking out eight batters. She also hit a double and batted in three runners. Brooke Wauford went yard in the sixth inning for a two-run homer.
Cordova 6, Danville 4 After allowing five runs at the top of the first, Danville cut the lead to 5-4, going into the final inning, when Cordova scored another run in the 7th to seal the game. Hutto and Weaver had two hits each Tuesday night. The Hawks totalled nine hits.
East Lawrence 6, Danville 5
The Eagles took a quick 5-0 lead in the 1st. Danville responded by tying the game in the 4th inning. East Lawrence scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 5th to win. Aubrey Reed went 3-4 including a double for the Hawks. Jada Weaver had two hits, one being a double and scoring a Danville run.
Prep, Page B-2 Falkville 17, Tanner 0 The Blue Devils demolished the Rattlers Tuesday night, racking up 20 hits. Kasey Foote batted 4-4 which included a triple. She also reached home four times, and batted in two runners. Melody Sims went 3-3 with two RBIs, scoring four times. Hope McClanahan hit a pair of doubles and scored twice. She also had a great outing in the circle, striking out 11 Tanner batters.
Fairview 4, Falkville 2 Falkville fell just short of the Aggies on Friday. Peyton Holloway recorded two hits for the Blue Devils. Hope McClanahan hit a double and scored a run. Melody Sims and Lily Slayton each batted a runner home. Kasey Foote threw eight strikeouts against Fairview.
East Limestone 2, Priceville 1
The Bulldogs took the lead in the top of the fourth inning when Madison Lafountain scored off of a grounder by Darby Thigpen. The Indians won in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the seventh. Elizabeth Murphy struck out four batters for Priceville.
Priceville 5, Danville 4 Four batters for Priceville were hit by pitch, but the Bulldogs took advantage of those opportunities. Madison Lafountain and Kelsey Green both scored twice for Priceville. Green scored the walk-off run due to a wild pitch from Danville. She also earned the win from inside the circle. Ellie Tucker batted 3-4 for the Hawks. Izzy Guest had two hits while scoring once. Addi Hill reached home twice for Danville.
Decatur Heritage 8, Priceville 5
Priceville’s comeback attempt fell short against the Eagles despite scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Madison Lafountain scored twice off of one hit. Bailey Smyth batted 2-3 including a double with two RBIs. Peyton Goss had two hits, scoring once, and batting in two runners.
