Hartselle Drama to present ‘Grease: School Version’
Special to the Enquirer
Hartselle Drama is thrilled to bring the energy and excitement of “Grease: School Version” to the stage from March 11-15 at the Hartselle High School auditorium. This specially adapted edition of the beloved musical, with book, lyrics, and music by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, is designed for young performers and audiences, offering a shorter runtime and age-appropriate content while preserving the iconic songs and fun-loving spirit that have made “Grease” a timeless favorite.
Drama teacher and director Lisa King expressed her enthusiasm for the production: “I want to create a nostalgic experience for those who grew up with the songs and story while also introducing this classic to a new generation.” The production features a cast of 57 students from Hartselle Junior High and High School, supported by a dedicated team of over 50 crew members working behind the scenes to bring the show to life.
“As a student deeply involved in this production, I am so proud of the creativity we’ve brought to this classic musical,” Alida Stinson, student marketing assistant for Hartselle Drama said. “The themes of self-discovery, friendship, young love, and the ups and downs of high school life at Rydell High really hit home for us. Grease is more than just a fun show; it’s an important way for us to explore important lessons and present the passions we have for the performing arts. Our cast and crew have been giving their all to make this show as memorable as it can be, and we can’t wait for everyone to see it. This production is designed to be family-friendly, making it a perfect outing for viewers of all ages. We can’t wait to introduce this timeless show to a whole new generation and help others revisit a beloved story from their own youth.” The production will take place at the Hartselle High School Auditorium. Reserved seats (first five rows) are available for $25 each, while general admission is priced at $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. The preview show for friends and family is scheduled for March 11 at 7 p.m., followed by a performance for local school groups on March 12.
