“Wild, Beautiful and Free”
By Sophfronia Scott
Jeannette Bébinn’s mother died in childbirth, leaving her in the care of her plantation owner father. Jeannette was adored by her father, and raised in the house alongside her half-sister, Calista. Her papa made sure she was educated and knew that the land belonged to her and her sister upon his death. Unfortunately, when that time came, his wife sold Jeannette into slavery and refused her any of her inheritance. This is the story not only of how Jeannette endured her time in slavery and her brave escape to freedom, but of the love and purpose that waited for her on the other side.
