Morgan farmer honored with AFVGA’s highest award
Morgan County farmer Mike Reeves, owner of Reeves’ Peach Farm, has been recognized with the 2025 Alabama Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association (AFVGA) Exceptional Achievement Award. The honor, presented during the AFVGA conference held Feb. 5-7, is the organization’s highest award, celebrating individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the agricultural industry.
A retired Alabama Extension agent, Reeves has spent years supporting fellow farmers with guidance and resources while also managing his family’s multi-generational peach farm. He is a founding member of AFVGA and has played a key role in advancing fruit and vegetable farming across the state.
Reeves credits his success to the strong foundation laid by his father and grandfather and the family tradition of working together on the land. “It was the hard work and vision of my father, Donnie Reeves, who got us started growing peaches in 1959.” “This award coming from this group means more to me than anything,” Reeves said. “The achievement to me is getting my farm to where it’s an option for my children to continue operating the land and being successful.”
