Brewer wins three over county rivals

The Brewer Patriots opened their season with four wins last week, including wins over Danville and Priceville. Priceville also picked up a couple of wins, while Falkville grabbed one.
Brewer 10, Priceville 4
Braydon Watkins finished with two hits, including a double, and three RBIs to lead Brewer to a 10-4 win over Priceville Feb. 21. Cole Drinkard added three hits, with a double and two RBIs, while Hunter Knighten had a pair of hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Dane Homan picked up the win, allowing one run on two hits with four strikeouts in four innings of work.
JD Pflueger and Tyde Borden each had a hit and an RBI for Priceville. Colman Gann had an RBI. Borden took the loss after allowing four runs in 3.2 innings of work. He struck out seven.
Brewer 6, Danville 1
Knighten finished with two hits and three RBIs to lead Brewer to a 6-1 win over Danville in the first game of a doubleheader. Drinkard and Pasuer each had an RBI. Drinkard pitched three innings and struck out five to pick up the win.
Noah Dry had a hit and an RBI for Danville. Eli Coker pitched 4.1 innings, giving up six earned runs while striking out four in the loss.
Brewer 10, Danville 6
Jack Carnell had three hits and three RBIs to lead Brewer to a 10-6 win over the Hawks to sweep the Saturday doubleheader. Dayton Wilson had three hits, two RBIs and two runs, while Nathan Butler had two hits and two RBIs. Carnell picked up the win after pitching three innings of no-hit ball.
Coker had two hits and an RBI, while Sawyer Tapscott had a hit and an RBI. McClesky had a hit, two runs scored and an RBI. Tapscott took the loss after allowing nine runs in four innings.
Brewer 12, Douglas 4
Hunter Knighten went 5-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs to lead Brewer to a 12-4 win over Douglas. Cole Drinkard added four hits and two RBIs, while Homan and Carnell each had two RBIs. Drinkard pitched 2.2 innings to earn the win.
Priceville 6, Arab 5
Jake Hamilton hit a solo home run, while Borden had two RBIs in a 6-5 win over Arab. Gage Vaughn pitched 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win.
West Morgan 11, Priceville 9 Borden and Ethan Sherwood had two hits and one RBI each for Priceville. Hudson Eubanks took the loss after giving up four runs in relief.
Austin 2, Priceville 0
Borden, Gann and Thomas Ferguson each had a hit in Priceville’s 2-0 loss to Austin. Gann took the loss after allowing two runs in four innings while striking out five.
Priceville 8, Muscle Shoals 6 The Bulldogs scored two runs in the top of the seventh to pick up an 8-6 win over Muscle Shoals. Eubanks finished with two hits, an RBI and a run scored to lead Priceville. Ferguson scored three runs, while Gann and Hamilton each had a hit, two RBIs and a run scored. Sherwood picked up the win after an inning of work, while Jack Eubanks earned the save with a scoreless seventh.
Falkville 17, Tharptown 7
Bryant Owens had a hit, two RBIs and four runs scored to lead Falkville to a 17-7 win over Tharptown. Denver Comstock added a hit and three RBIs, while Judson Tew scored three runs Mason Moore earned the win after pitching three innings of two-hit ball while striking out six.
Colbert Heights 15, Falkville 5
Owens had a homerun and a double with two RBIs and two runs scored in the Blue Devils’ 15-5 loss to Colbert Heights. Peyton Davis had a hit, a run scored and an RBI. Comstock took the loss after giving up nine runs in one inning of work.
