The Hartselle Tigers wrestling team finished its first year under coach Ashton Quattlebaum with a fifthplace finish in the state championships this past weekend in Huntsville. This was the team’s best finish since 2005. “It was an amazing and unique experience,” Quattlebaum said. “The team had a very successful season. We look to build on this season’s success and have the program competing for state titles here in a few years. We had the best season since Hartselle won the 5A state title in 2005. We also had two state champs, Hartselle’s first individual state title since 2020.”
Two Tigers finished as state champions to lead the team. Gage Roberts took down all competition in the 120-pound class, while Jacob Doshier swept the 150-pound class.

“We were a seniorheavy team this season, and they had a tremendous year,” Quattlebaum said. “We look forward to building on their success in the coming years.”
