How do you evangelize?
There are countless ways Christians can spread the gospel- some preach, some have one-on-one conversations, others lead by example-and the list goes on! But no matter what method you use, there are two key factors that determine its impact: effectiveness and ineffectiveness. Whether you’re preaching from the pulpit or chatting with someone about God, it all comes down to how you approach it.
Paul addresses this in 1 Corinthians 13. He tells the Corinthians that if your motivation isn’t rooted in love-love for others, for souls, and for Jesus-then your efforts are like a clanging cymbal, just noise. In other words, it’s an ineffective way to evange lize. Paul goes on to remind us that our motivation must always be love, because God is love! He describes what love looks like-it’s patient, kind, humble, hopeful, and truthful. These qualities, when reflected in how we share the gospel, are what make evangelism truly effective. And love, Paul assures us, never fails.
So, whatever way you choose to share the gospel, make sure it’s driven by love. Only then will it be truly effective. Are you teaching others about God in a way that’s motivated by love?
