Brewer, Falkville advance to area championship games

The Brewer Patriots and the Falkville Blues Devils kept their seasons alive with wins in their area tournament semifinals.

The Patriots ended the season with their rival Priceville in the 5A Area 16 semifinals. Falkville advanced by defeating Winston County in the 2A Area 13 semifinal.

Brewer 61, Priceville 43 For the fourth time this season, rivals Brewer and Priceville faced off. But this time, their season was on the line, with the winner advancing while the loser’s season came to a close. And for the fourth time, the Patriots got the best of the Bulldogs by a score of 61-43.

Jackson Dunn led Brewer with 18 points, four rebounds and two steals. Austyn Holmes had 13 points, four steals, four rebounds and three assists. Cason Oden added 16 rebounds.

Luke Hood led Priceville with 24 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Sammy Holmes added seven points, while Colman Gann had eight rebounds. The Patriots advance to the 5A Area 16 area championship game to face East Limestone, who defeated Ardmore 74-35, for the third time this season.

Brewer 54, DAR 51

Brewer closed their regular season with a 54-51 victory on the road at DAR. Austyn Holmes led three Brewer players in double figures with 13 points, while Cam Ballinger had 11 points and Cason Oden added 10.

Falkville 53, Winston County 50 The Blue Devils kept their season alive with a 53-50 win over Winston County in the 2A Area 13 semifinals. Eli Harris led Falkville with 16 points, while Cayden Butler had 13.

Falkville will face off with Cold Springs in the area championship.
