Priceville wins fourth consecutive county tournament with comeback win over Danville

Priceville wins fourth consecutive county tournament with comeback win over Danville

Last Saturday night, the Priceville Lady Bulldogs earned their fourth consecutive Morgan County Tournament win, 68-56, over topseeded Danville. The win catapulted the Lady Bulldogs into the season’s final week, and they now focus on the postseason.

Championship

Priceville 68, Danville 56 The Lady Bulldogs had to overcome a slow start to win their fourth consecutive Morgan County Tournament championship. The Danville Hawks jumped out to an 18-8 first-quarter lead and held off a Lady Bulldogs run in the second quarter to lead by five at halftime.

Priceville exploded in the second half behind Leah Childress to run away from the Lady Hawks. She scored 17 of her game-high 22 points in the second half. She also had eight assists and six steals. She was named the tournament MVP following her performance.

Amberleigh Dean added 13 points for Priceville, while Josie Childress had 11.

Addison Prater finished with 19 points to lead the Lady Hawks. Maddie Sherrill added 11 points.

Semifinals

Danville 55, Falkville 28 The top-seeded Lady Hawks punched their ticket to the Morgan County Championship game with a 55-28 win over Falkville. Adily Alberti finished with 14 points and seven rebounds to lead Danville. Sherrill added 12 points and five rebounds.

Priceville 57, West Morgan 20 Priceville overcame a slow start in the Morgan County Tournament semifinal matchup with West Morgan and cruised to a 57-20 victory. The Lady Bulldogs led 9-5 after the first and 30-14 at the half. The defense held the Lady Rebels to only six points in the second half.

Quarterfinals

Falkville 56, Brewer 50 Falkville opened the Morgan County tournament on Monday with a big win over Brewer.

The Blue Devils were led by Leah Pierce, who finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds, while Andee Emerson led Brewer with 13.
