The student participants in the IMPACT leadership program presented by the Morgan County Co-op were recently announced by the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce. The following students make up the class: Clay Clemons, Sawyer Clemons, Callie Childers, Kali DeFreez, Joseph LaBoudiere, Julia LaBoudiere, Anna York, Travis Kurecki, Melody Sims, Payton Clemons, Aubrey Cottrell, Brodie Davis, Wesley Evans, Addison Faulk, Trae Griffith, Mollie Haskins, Maggie Beth King, Wyatt Miller, Owen Newton, Abigail Pettus, Mattie Reynolds, Hailey Scott, Ilana Shariett and Mya Winchester.
IMPACT was designed to promote classroom and community leadership among high school students in Morgan County. The program is open to all sophomores and juniors in Hartselle City and Morgan County systems.
The program was created to grow lifelong community leaders in the Hartselle area through mentorship, experiential and peer learning, community networking, service projects and problem-solving opportunities, according to the HACC.
IMPACT aspires to develop citizens who are aware of the building blocks of a strong community, who can identify opportunities, who understand their individual impact and who have the tools to produce change.
The program began last week with the students visiting Go-Far Park for team building exercises.
It will run through May and will include monthly modules such as handson learning, peer learning, service projects to give back to community and community tours, including a day trip to Montgomery during the legislative session.
