Vernon Ray Parker
Hartselle Vernon Ray Parker passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, at North Alabama Medical Center, in Florence. He was born June 4, 1957, in Florida, to Vernon Harold Parker and Bobbie Lou Robinson . Vernon was well known as “Ray” or “Ray-Ray” as he traveled from family to family, like a gypsy. He worked in various jobs such as Communications, as a Cable Installer for a General Contractor, at grocery stores, and went to his sister’s home in Wisconsin to work cutting trees, working tobacco, and fencing. Ray married the love of his life, Sue, in February of 1999. He went to Arizona with his mother when his brother became very sick and stayed until his brother passed away and he eventually lost his mother as well. He then traveled back to Alabama to bury his mother and to reunite with family, Teresa Robinson, and special friends here; and remained until his death. Preceding him in death were his wife, Sue; his brothers, Daniel and Walter; his father, Vernon; mother, Bobbie; and step-mother, Florence; his grandparents; a nephew; and a few special friends. Survivors include a sister, Vera Stussy (Don); brothers, Bruce Parker (Teresa), Alan Parker (Susan), and Victor Kelley (Carol). He had a special place in his heart for his 12 nieces and nephews, 18 great nieces and nephews, and 7 great great nieces and nephews; and the Scott family as special friends.
