Frank Monk
Hartselle Funeral service for Frank Monk, 82 of Hartselle, was held Monday, January 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Ben Bates and Brother Geoff Halbrooks officiating. Burial will follow in the New Center Baptist Church Cemetery, with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Monk, who was born February 11, 1942, in Cullman County to Hollis Levert Monk and Fleda Stringer Monk, died on Friday, January 10, 2025, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Holland Monk, Larry Monk and Carl Monk.
Frank was a 1960 graduate of Morgan County High School. He worked as a dispatcher for Baker Transport for many years and was an owner/operator long-haul truck driver. He loved going to Lacon Trade Day, watching Westerns on television, and especially enjoyed reading, particularly Westerns.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Kathryn Maples Monk; son, Phillip Monk (Debra); three stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren.
Brennon Johnson, Brayson Maples, Dee Monk, Ivan Halbrooks, Danny Hogan and Ricky Bracken will serve as pallbearers.

Jack Wesley Anglea Sr.
Hartselle Jack Wesley Anglea Sr., 85, of Hartselle, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of life service at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Jack was born on January 9, 1940, in Falkville, Alabama, to Mr. and Mrs. John W. Anglea. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1958 and was very proud to have served in the U.S. Army, where he spent most of his time in the Panama Canal Zone and was later honorably discharged. He worked for the Civil Service for over 25 years before retiring, then spent over 10 years selling cars, and finished his working years by driving a school bus for more than 10 years.
Jack loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, boating with his family, and coaching various ball teams, but his favorite pastime was crappie fishing on the Tennessee River. He was a member of Johnson Chapel Methodist Church and was devoted to his faith. Over the years, Jack was very active in his church, helping underprivileged children, hosting missionaries in his home, assisting with gospel groups’ set-up and take-down after their performances, and helping with Communion.
Above all, Jack was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. More than anything, he cherished spending time with his family.
Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sandra; his four children, Tammy Pickens (Ronnie), Jimmy Anglea (Jane), Christy Faulk (Phil), and Jack Anglea Jr. (Laura); six grandchildren, Kayla Faulk Smith (Zach), Will Anglea, Sara Faulk, Mary Alice Anglea, Alan Anglea, and Lee Ellen Anglea.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant brother, John Jr.

Debra Ann Champion
Hartselle Funeral service for Debra Ann Champion, 65, was held Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Paul Tucker officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Center Springs Church Cemetery. Mrs. Champion passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville. She was born October 18, 1959, in New York to Robert E. Veach and Audrey Francis Gray Veach.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. She was married to Bobby Champion for 43 wonderful years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Tim McIntyre, Bryan McIntyre, and Johnny McIntyre.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Champion; sons, Kevin Champion and Robert (R.D.) Oshner (Dallas); daughters, Leann Kennedy (Michael) and Robin Oshner; brothers, Mel McIntyre (Jackey), Irwin (Ed) McIntyre (Janice); sister, Cheryl Brown (Rob); grandchildren, Kalli Rewis and Maddox Benitez.
Pallbearers will be R.D. Oshner, Tyler Shockey, Josh Tucker, Shawn Becker, John Champion, and Maverick Champion.
Bill Sims
Decatur Bill Sims passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born May 31, 1943, in Morgan County to Jessie Lee Sims and Anna Ruth Blankenship Sims. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Fruehauf Company as a forklift mechanic. He loved to hunt, fish and drag race cars. He also loved and enjoyed spending time with his beagle dogs. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Gale Sims; and a daughter, Stephanie Sims. Survivors include his son, William Laron Sims (Renae); a daughter, Karen Alexander; grandchildren, Tyler Sims, Taylor Sims, Heather Allen (Ben) and Randy Alexander (Kelli); great grandchildren, Tailyn, Easton, Gunter, River, and Emmie Lou. No services are scheduled at this time.
Robbie Mae Hyatt Veal
Addison Funeral service for Robbie Mae Hyatt Veal was held Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steton Hayes officiating and Peck funeral home. Burial was at Etha Cemetery. Mrs. Veal passed away at her home on Thursday, January 2, 2025. She was born in Tennessee on December 29, 1946, to Joseph and Minnie Hyatt. Mrs. Veal was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved her children and grandchildren the most in life. She was an LPN for most of her working years. She was a caregiver to many and mother to lots.
She was a genuine person, a queen, solider for the Lord and the closest thing to Jesus that her family had ever seen. She could brighten anyone’s day.
She was a Christian and loved to visit many different churches. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Euel Veal; her father, Joseph Hyatt; her mother, Minnie Kimbrell (William); her stepmother, Portis Thackston Hyatt; brothers, Clyde Hyatt, JR Hyatt, Ernest Hyatt, Larry Kimbrell and Tommy Kimbrell; and her sister, Geneva Overton. She is survived by sons, Rex Terrell Westmoreland and his children JT, Tarena Nicole, Destiny Briana and Dillon, Raymond Westmoreland and his children Levi Austin, Aubrey Jack and Tyler Branon; Daughters, Rita Gail Westmoreland and her children Jonathon Blake and Joshua Scott Hale, Melania Mae Veal and her children Kenneth Austin Veal, Daniel Logan Edmonson, and Angel Spivey Kelly; brothers, Robert Hyatt, JC Hyatt, Jimmy Hyatt, David Hyatt, Richard Kimbrell, Randy Thackston and Phyllis Thackston; Sisters, Ema Lou Smith and Joyce Kimbrell Long; brotherin-law, John David Veal; sisters-in-law, Linda Gail Veal Holmes and Melba Jane Veal Nelson; several great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
