Dr. Phillip Ray Gault
Hartselle Dr. Phillip Ray Gault, 61, passed away at his home on January 10, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 25, 1963, to the late Bobby Gault and Ruth Brown Gault.
Phil was raised in New Albany, Mississippi, where he was active in sports, playing football and baseball, and participated in The Boy Scouts of America, where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also involved in various activities at First Baptist Church, New Albany. He graduated as salutatorian from W.P. Daniel High School in 1981 and went on to further his education at Mississippi State University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Phil graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988, fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. He moved to Hartselle, Alabama, in 1992 and continued his career at Pearson Animal Hospital until his death. With over 36 years in practice, he was dedicated to caring for animals and their owners, and he thoroughly enjoyed his work. He was a member of First Baptist Church Hartselle.
Phil had a love for the outdoors, whether it was in the mountains, woods, or on Smith Lake. He spent many summers enjoying time with family and friends on the water and loved teaching them how to wakesurf. He was also an avid runner, dedicated to daily exercise. Recently, Phil became a “Papa,” which brought him immense joy. He adored spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Dr. Gault is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lisa Littlejohn Gault; his son, Phillip Gault; his son, Justin Gault (Kasey); his daughter, Katie Allison Gault; two grandchildren, Beckett Ray Gault and Beau Reed Gault; his brothers, Bob Gault (Wendy) and Dave Gault; his sister-in-law, Christy Adair; his brother-in-law, Bradley Littlejohn (Morgan); and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Peck Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with Dr. Jeff Redmond officiating. Burial will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 12:00 noon at New Harmony Cemetery in New Harmony, Mississippi, with Bro. Andrew Chesteen officiating. Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Frank Buckley, Dr. David Crouch, Jeff Hillman, Benji Hughes, Dr. Steve Pearson, and Dr. Barry Stewart. Honorary pallbearers are friends from Mike’s Gun Shop.
