How did you two meet?
Will and I have known each other since we were in preschool, we were in the Purple Puppies together at the First United Methodist Church. We went to Barkley Bridge Elementary together for a couple of years until Will and his siblings ended up moving schools and we didn’t reconnect until June of 2020, when he moved back to Hartselle for his sophomore year at Hartselle High School.
The Proposal:
I had Anna’s ring specially curated by Prentice at Cumberland Diamond Exchange in Georgia. I wanted to keep it a surprise from her from the start, so I got together with our mothers and her aunt. We had her cousin take her to get her nails done the day before. She also had a dress that she really liked and only wanted to wear for a special occasion. I had a full plan in mind that I wanted, and it needed to be on camera. Thankfully a family friend of theirs is a photographer and was able to make Anna think that he’d gotten a new camera. He asked her to come out to his family’s farm for some free pictures as a chance to break in the new camera. I had Anna wear the dress to get some pictures, as far as she knew. Anna’s aunt hid behind a ‘Marry Me’ display, and her cousin had the ring so we could do a handoff. As I got the ring from him he told me ‘Just remember, I loved her first’ which I had no idea was coming, but it was perfect. I took the ring and walked to Anna, and she was taken by surprise. Of course, she said “yes.”
Favorite Moment from the Big Day:
One of our many favorite moments from the day was our first look. We had not seen each other since the morning of the day prior, so our nerves were up, big time. We had messaged each other a few times that morning but didn’t have our first look until that afternoon. Will had his back towards me, but I found myself welling up with tears because I could hear him crying, and he was going to finally see me in the wedding dress, my wedding dress, that had been picked out well over a year prior, and even months before he proposed. After composing myself, I continued my walk toward him, I tapped him on his shoulder and he turned to face me. In that intimate and most memorable moment, all our worries and anxiety washed away, in just an instant. We were complete, and all that was left was that promise we would make before God and our witnesses, to love and cherish each other forever.
