Lady Tigers extend win streak to seven

The Hartselle Lady Tigers extended their win streak to seven games with wins over Brewer, Gadsden City and Cullman this past week. The 6A No. 5 ranked Lady Tigers head into the Christmas break 15-2.
Hartselle 60, Brewer 16
Hartselle shook off a slow start and routed the visiting Lady Patriots 60-16 last Friday night. The Lady Tigers led 19-9 after the first quarter. It was all Hartselle after that, as their defense held Brewer to seven total points, all in the second half. The Lady Tigers forced 29 Lady Patriot turnovers. The Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Patriots 24-0 in the second quarter to take a 43-9 lead into halftime. Hartselle reserves played much of the second half as the Lady Tigers outscored Brewer 17-7 to get the 60-16 win. Hannah Burks and Mary Frances Itsede each finished with 14 points to lead Hartselle, while Anna Hampton Burroughs added 12 points, five steals, three assists and three rebounds. Ella Springer had eight points and five steals, while Carson Boyer had five points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists.
Hartselle 49, Gadsden City 25 The Lady Tigers jumped out to an 13-0 first quarter lead over Gadsden City and didn’t look back as they cruised to a 49-25 win on the road. The Lady Titans outscored Hartselle 10-9 in the second quarter to cut the lead to 22-10 heading into halftime. The Lady Tigers’ defense held Gadsden City to just 15 points in the second half while the offense scored 13 in the third and 14 in the fourth to get the 49-25 win. Burks finished with 20 points and three steals to lead Hartselle. Itsede finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds, running her double-double streak to five games. Burroughs added five points and six steals.
Hartselle 54, Cullman 40
Hartselle renewed their rivalry with Cullman to start the week. In the past this game was an area game but now it is just a regular season game. The Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Bearcats 20-4 in the first quarter, finishing the quarter on a 15-0 run. Hartselle extended their lead to 30-12 heading into the halftime break. They continued showing their dominance in the third quarter, pushing their lead to 43-23. Cullman outscored the Lady Tigers 17-11 in the fourth to make the final score 54-40. Burks finished with 20 points, 11 deflections and six steals to lead Hartselle. Itsede had a double-double, 17 points and 12 rebounds, with four assists and three steals. Burroughs added seven points and four rebounds.
