Weekend crash kills one

A single-vehicle crash near Eva over the weekend killed a Hanceville man.

The crash happened around 5:09 p.m. Saturday on Union Hill Church Road near Pitts Road, approximately three miles west of Eva.

David C. Acuff, 40, was fatally injured when the 2008 Chevrolet AVEO5 he was driving left the roadway, struck a mailbox then struck a culvert before overturning. Acuff was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency continue to investigate.
