Morgan County sheriff’s narcotics agents dis-covered meth Dec. 9 in a vehicle occupied by a man and woman from Hartselle and a child, according to an agent’s affidavit filed last week in district court.
Burt Anthony Williams, 49, and Nicole Faye Lobberecht, 38, are each charged with trafficking meth and chemical endangerment of a child, court records showed. They remained in the Morgan County Jail Dec. 11 in lieu of $12,500 bonds.
Drug Enforcement Unit agents patrolling New Center Road and Cardinal Road, west of Somerville, stopped an SUV driven by Lobberecht for speeding, according to the affidavit. Williams and a child were passengers.
K9 Gator was deployed around the vehicle “for a free air sniff,” the affidavit says, and his reaction gave agents probable cause to search the vehicle. A black box in the rear passenger compartment contained a large quantity of a substance that later fieldtested positive for meth, according to the affidavit.
