Lady Tigers improve to 6-0 with wins over Austin, Pell City

The Hartselle Lady Tigers continued their hot streak to open the 2024-25 season with two wins to improve to 6-0 on the season. They defeated Pell City 51-31 this past Thursday and raced past Austin 71-43 last Tuesday.
“We had a good week in getting two wins,” Hartselle coach Amber Deline said. “I have challenged our players to look to score and not depend on just one or two to score and they have responded well. We have a difficult stretch upcoming with the Encore Thanksgiving Classic, opening with 7A Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa before facing Homewood and Florence.” Hartselle 51, Pell City 31 The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 15-3 first quarter lead and cruised to a 51-31 win on the road at Pell City this past Thursday.
Hartselle extended their lead to 33-13 at halftime before taking a 47-22 lead into the final quarter. Pell City outscored the Lady Tigers 9-4 in the fourth quarter to make the final score 51-31.
Hannah Burks finished with 21 points, four steals and a block to lead Hartselle. Anna Hampton Burroughs added 11 points, six rebounds, six steals and five assists, while Ella Springer had eight points. Mary Frances Itsede added six points, eight rebounds and three steals. Hartselle 71, Austin 43 Burks finished with 17 points to lead four Lady Tigers in double-digit scoring as Hartselle raced past visiting Austin 71-43 this past Tuesday. Hartselle jumped out to an 18-6 first quarter lead before extending their lead to 40-18 at halftime. They outscored the Lady Black Bears 27-11 in the third quarter to build a 67-29 lead going into the final quarter. Austin outscored the Lady Tigers 14-4 in the final quarter to make the final score 71-43. Elsie Boyd had 16 points, eight assists and four steals for Hartselle, while Burroughs and Itsede had 12 points each. Burroughs had five assists and three steals, while Itsede added three rebounds and three steals.
