Peggy Jean Dobbs Durand
Hartselle Funeral service for Peggy Jean Dobbs Durand, 95, was held Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Darrell Mosley officiating.
Peggy, age 95, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 9, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Morgan County, Alabama to Mr. Terry and Mrs. Vera Mae Wallace Dobbs on September 30, 1929.
She was a substitute teacher for more than 40 years throughout Morgan County but especially Hartselle City Schools prior to her retirement. Peggy loved the outdoors, going camping, and sewing. She loved caring and cooking for her family but dearly loved being there for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was a faithful long time member of McKendree United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.
Peggy was married to the love of her life Russell E. Durand for 71 years who preceded her in death in April 2018. Also preceding her in death, are her parents and her son, Mike Durand and his wife Beverly.
Surviving and carrying on her legacy are her daughter, Beth Shelton(Derrell); brother, Frank Dobbs (Charlotte); grandchildren, Russell Durand (Julie), William Partlow (Larissa), Jon Durand, Whitney Griffin (Jeff), and Weston Shelton (Tina); great-grandchildren, Alec Durand (Amy), Lauren Brock (Seth), Dillon Langford (Lily), Hayden Partlow, Ethan Partlow, Caroline Partlow (Cooper), Briley Durand, Dillon Durand, Sam Griffin, Jacob Griffin, Mackenzie Shelton, and Gus Shelton’ great-great grandchildren, Julianna Brock, Ellis Brock, Mylah Wright, Caleb Hott and Aydin Hott.
Pallbearers will be Hayden Partlow, Ethan Partlow, Alec Durand, Dillon Langford, Seth Brock and Jeff Griffin.
The family would love to acknowledge and thank Hospice of the Valley for their loving care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley or The Gideons International.
