Road rage shooting closes I-65 exit in Hartselle

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to a shooting along Interstate 65 at Exit 325 Tuesday evening, according to the Hartselle Police Department.

Authorities said the incident occurred around 6:32 p.m. Capt. Alan McDearmond confirmed the shooting stemmed from a road rage altercation, resulting in one individual being shot in the hand.

The suspect was driving a dark-colored Dodge Charger, McDearmond said.

The northbound exit ramp at Thompson Road is currently closed as the Hartselle Police Department continues its investigation.

Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and seek alternate routes if possible.
