Blue Devils move to second round

The Falkville Blue Devils kept their season alive with a 16-6 win over visiting Lexington in the first round of the 2A State Playoffs.
The Blue Devils took an 8-0 lead in the first quarter following Landon Powers’ four-yard touchdown run. Denver Comstock added a two-point conversion.
Early in the third quarter, the Golden Bears cut into the Falkville lead with a 2-yard touch-down run. The score cut the Blue Devils lead to 8-6.
In the fourth quarter, Falkville extended their lead to 16-6 when Eli Harris returned a Lexington punt 81 yards for a touchdown.
Powers led Falkville with 127 yards rushing and a touchdown on 14 carries.
Comstock led the Blue Devils’ defensive effort with 13 tackles and a sack. Harris and Cash Lawrimore each had an interception.
Falkville (7-4) moves to round two for a matchup with no. 1 Pisgah.
