Somerville Funeral service for Billy Joe Marlar, 81, will be Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Pines Baptist Church with Bro. Frankie Flack officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in the Pines Cemetery, also known as Russell Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Pines Baptist Church. Mr. Marlar passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born February 12, 1943, in Lawrence County, to Charlie Marlar and Zelma Marlar Crowden. He was a Foreman for the Morgan County Commission District 4, prior to his retirement. Mr. Marlar was a family man, who loved his grandchildren, was a member of Pines Baptist Church and was an Avid Alabama fan. He enjoyed cattle farming and his cattle. His wife of 53 years, Mary Louvilla Pritchett Marlar, preceded him in death, as well as his brother; J.C. Marlar, and a sister; Barbara Griffin. Survivors include; Daughter – Mary Denise Steelman (Wally) Brothers – Glen Marlar Earl Marlar Dwight “Cotton” Marlar Sister – Gail Marlar Collins Three Grandchildren – Joey Turner (Whitley), Heather Pippin (Marcus), and Mandi Steelman. Four Great Grandchildren – Mckenna Pippin, Adyson Turner, Louella Jo Pippin, and Paisley Lovelady. Pallbearers will be Joey Turner, Marcus Pippin, Jamie Jones, Randall Jones, Terry Speegle and Dale Blackwood. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial donations be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
