The Brewer Patriots closed their season with a 35-0 win over visiting West Point this past Friday.
“It’s always good to finish with a win,” head coach Matt Plunkett said. “We had a tough season overall. Our schedule was very strong, and we battled injuries all season.” The Patriots scored twice in the first half, taking a 15-0 lead into halftime. They added two scores in the third quarter and capped off the scoring with a 76-yard run early in the fourth quarter to make the score 35-0.
Walker Latham led the Patriots with 130 yards rushing and a touchdown. Hunter Knighten added 122 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
Although the season didn’t end as they had hoped, the future is bright, according to Plunkett. Freshman Cole Drinkard stepped in for an injured Cason Oden and threw for nine touchdowns and ran for two touchdowns in the final three games of the season.
“I was proud of our team from start to finish,” Plunkett said. “No matter how difficult the adversity was, we continued to play hard and prepare. We have a very strong junior class returning with 16 young men who will be seniors in 2025. We are very excited about our future at Brewer.”
