Simmons named to AHSAA North-South All-Star team

Hartselle senior defensive lineman Porter Simmons has been named to the 2024 AHSAA North-South All-Star team.

“I am very thankful for being named to the All-Star team,” Simmons said. “I have had a great senior season that I don’t want to see come to an end.” He was selected for the North team in an announcement by the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association last Friday.

Simmons has 45 tackles this season along with a team-high 18 tackles for loss, 16 quarterback pressures, five sacks and two fumble recoveries. Simmons will play in the annual showcase for the state’s top seniors on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the campus of the University of South Alabama in Mobile.

The game will air on the AHSAA TV Network and the NFHS Network.
