Priceville sweeps 5A Area 16 tournament

The Priceville Lady Bulldogs swept through the 5A Area 16 tournament last week after sweeping the regular season, dropping only one set in 10 area contests.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the area tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Westminster Christian. They met county rival Brewer in the championship match and swept the Lady Patriots 3-0 (27-25, 26-24, 25-11) to secure the area tournament championship.

Brewer advanced to the championship game with a 3-0 win over Ardmore.

Leah Childress led Priceville with 24 kills, 16 digs, three aces and two blocks, while Abby Langlois added 22 kills, 10 aces, five blocks and three digs. Maddi Kennedy had 27 digs and two aces with Josie Childress recording 28 assists, 11 digs and five aces. Rachael Rotermund added 26 assists and two blocks.

Priceville (53-7) opens the North Regional Tournament on October 24 against Northside, while Brewer opens with John Carroll Catholic.

Falkville

The Lady Blue Devils advanced to the North Regional Tournament after finishing runner-up in 2A Area 11. They defeated Cold Springs 3-2 to advance to the championship match where they lost 3-0 to Winston County.

Falkville will open the North Regional Tournament on October 23 against Mars Hill.

Hartselle

The Lady Tigers fell 3-2 to Muscle Shoals in the 6A Area 15 tournament. With the loss, Hartselle’s season comes to an end.

Danville

The Lady Hawks season came to an end with a 3-1 loss to East Lawrence in the 4A Area 13 Tournament.
