Hartselle A memorial service for Helen J. Johnson, 78, was held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gordon Wilbanks officiating. Mrs. Johnson passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at her home. Born on June 10, 1946, in Morgan County, to Rev. Walter S. Wright and Mary Jane Garrison Wright, she worked as a cafeteria worker for Hartselle Junior High School before her retirement. Helen was a pastor’s devoted wife, a Sunday School teacher, a singer, and a songwriter.
Mrs. Johnson was an Auxiliary member the DAV Chapter 11 and the American Legion Post 15 and the VFW 4190 in Decatur. Preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Charlie Lamb; her sisters, Barbara Norwood and Martha R. Dyer; and her brothers, Virgil Wright and Rev. Jessie Wright. She is survived by her husband, John Johnson; her sons, Victor Lamb, Johny Johnson, and Jerry Johnson; her sister, Gloria Russell; 11 grandchildren, Bradley West, Gena Lamb, Hannah Lamb, Sarah Lamb, Arkadid Johnson, Alora Johnson, Austin Johnson, Jay Johnson, Kaliyah Johnson, Sophia Johnson, and Jocelyn Johnson; and her greatgrandchildren, Gracie West, Alivia West, and OD West.
