Dorothy Jeanne Blackmon

Falkville Dorothy Jeanne Gibbons Blackmon passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the Folsom Center. She was born on August 22, 1932, in Chilton County, to Rushon Day Gibbons and Eila Alice Scott Gibbons. Jeanne was a graduate of Falkville High School, The Newspaper Institute of America in New York, and Wallace State Community College. A decorated champion cook, she won over 100 awards and worked for over 62 years writing the Falkville News for the Hartselle Enquirer. She was a charter member of the Morgan County Herb Society and the Hartselle Senior Circle. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Noel L. Blackmon; her parents; her brother, Jimmie R. Gibbons; and her sister, Mabel Dunagan. She is survived by her niece, Lisa DiOrio (Larry); and greatniece, Tiffany Speer (Patrick). Per her request, her ashes will be sprinkled on her parents’ and brother’s graves, and no services are scheduled.
