Cuthbert Joseph Eastmond
Decatur Cuthbert Joseph Eastmond was born on March 20, 1953, in Panama City, Panama, as the eldest of nine children of Hermanson and Pearl Eastmond. In 1961, he immigrated to the United States with his family, settling in Queens, New York. He attended St. Catherine of Sienna Elementary School and later Aviation High School due to his passion for airplanes. After graduating, Cuthbert enlisted in the US Air Force, serving for eight years as an aircraft mechanic and participating in the Vietnam War. In 1981, after returning to civilian life, he moved to California with his brothers, continuing his career in aviation. Cuthbert loved the ocean, riding his bicycle, and building model airplanes. He was an active member of the Legion of Mary and, later in life, relocated to Decatur, Alabama, to care for his parents. On October 7, 2024, after battling health issues for four years, he passed away. Cuthbert is preceded in death by his parents, Hermanson and Pearl; and siblings Sunci, Edel, and John. He is survived by his siblings Luis, Mariana, Joe, Rita, Herman, and Dalena; in-laws; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and many extended family members.
