Hartselle Parks & Rec unveil two major facility projects
For the Enquirer
Hartselle Parks and Rec recently announced two major facility projects to upgrade their basketball and soccer facilities.
“We are excited about the ongoing upgrades at Hartselle Parks and Rec,” Director Thomas Phillips said. “The back gym has needed an upgrade for some time and we are excited to unveil it for the upcoming season while the soccer complex is getting a much-needed upgrade.” The second gym at the Sparkman Civic Center is undergoing a major facelift. Everything from the floor to the walls to the seating is being upgraded for the upcoming season. RFS Sports, out of Texas, designed and installed a new floor. They are replacing the 20-year-old wood grain floor that has stood the test of time.
The Hartselle Parks & Rec maintenance team has spent numerous hours replacing and painting the interior walls surrounding the court and the spectator area. To replace the aging bleachers, a new set of bleachers will be installed.
Once completed, the second gym will host basketball, volleyball and pickleball for the community. The grand reopening event will be announced soon.
The second project involves the soccer complex. The varsity fields underwent a major facelift in phase one of the project, as they were laser-leveled. The upgraded fields will open in the spring in time for the varsity season.
Phase two of the project involves adding irrigation to the upper fields that host rec and club-level teams. Game Day Athletic Services, based in Birmingham, is over project.
This project will allow Hartselle Parks & Rec to maintain the soccer fields yearround.
