Drive thru flu shots available Oct. 17

The Morgan County Health Department in Decatur will host a drive-thru flu clinic Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., or as long as supplies last.
The Health Department is located at 3821 U.S. 31 South. The cost of the shots is $5, but Medicaid, Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance are also accepted. COVID-19 information will also be available at the clinic. For more information, call 256-353-7021.
Influenza is a potentially serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Flu can lead to bacterial pneumonia, ear infections, sinus infections and worsening of chronic medical conditions such as congestive heart failure, asthma or diabetes. Vaccination has been shown to have many benefits, including reducing the risk of flu illnesses, hospitalizations and even the risk of flu-related death.
