Morgan commissioners recognized for service

Morgan County Commissioners Greg Abercrombie and Don Stisher have been presented with the Tenure in Office Award by the Association of County Commissions of Alabama (ACCA) for their16 and 24 years of service to county government and the state of Alabama, respectively. The awards were presented last month at the Association’s 96th Annual Convention.
“Commissioners Abercrombie and Stisher are worthy of the gratitude of all Alabamians for their dedication to public service and their personal sacrifice,” said Sonny Brasfield, ACCA Executive Director. “Amid the extraordinary challenges county commission members face every day, they have continuously served their respective constituents with honor and pride and deserve a pat on the back from everyone in Morgan County.”
ACCA annually presents the Tenure in Office Award to honor commission members who have served for at least 16 years in office. The award is given for four-year increments thereafter.
The Association of County Commissions of Alabama is a statewide organization speaking for all 67 counties with one voice. It promotes improved county government services in Alabama, offers educational programs for county officials and their staff members, administers insurance programs for county governments and employees, offers legal advice, and represents the interests of county government before state and federal organizations and agencies.
Abercrombie and his wife, Carrie, and their two children reside in Valhermoso Springs.
Stisher and his wife, Van Foote Stisher, owner of Van’s Barber Shop in downtown Hartselle, reside in Falkville. They have one daughter and one grandson.
