A Lacey’s Spring man Sept. 24 was convicted of two counts of home repair fraud and two counts of possessing a forged instrument and sentenced to 21 years in the custody of the Alabama Department of Corrections, according to the Morgan County District Attorney’s Office.
Johnny Ray Jordan, 63, was sentenced by Circuit Judge Stephen Brown following a May trial. Assistant District Attorney Joe Lewis prosecuted the case. Jordan was arrested following an investigation by Decatur police after two residents reported they had contracted him to make improvements to their homes.
“Jordan portrayed himself to be licensed by the State of Alabama to do the work and produced contracts with false licensing information,” the DA’s Office said in a statement. “Jordan never completed the work, leaving the victims out thousands of dollars.”
Jordan has a long history of similar offenses across north Alabama, according to the DA’s Office, and he was sentenced as a habitual offender. He’s currently awaiting trial on other similar offenses in Morgan County.
