Lady Tigers win Eddie Preuitt Ford Tournament

The Hartselle Lady Tigers battled with some of the top volleyball teams in North Alabama to win the Eddie Preuitt Ford Tournament this past weekend.
Hartselle won five out of six to bring home the title, defeating Jasper 2-1 in the championship match.
In pool play, they defeated Lawrence County and Guntersville while losing to Madison County. Then in bracket play, the Lady Tigers defeated Arab and Priceville to advance to the championship match.
Maddy Johnson led Hartselle with 147 assists and 33 digs, while Lily Douglass had 38 kills and 10 digs. Lyndie Springer added 40 digs, 24 kills and 11 aces. Abigail Preuitt finished with 32 kills and 13 digs, while Mary Frances Itsede had 43 digs, 26 kills, 10 aces and nine blocks. Earlier in the week, Hartselle opened area play with a 3-0 sweep of Decatur. VK Hoyle led the Lady Tigers with 17 digs and three aces, while Abigail Pruitt had 11 kills.
Hartselle has won 11 of their last 14 matches to improve to 18-13 overall.
Priceville
The Lady Bulldogs finished third in the tournament. They won over Alexandria, Madison Academy, Jasper and Plainview before falling to Hartselle in the semifinals. Earlier in the week, Priceville continued area play with a 3-0 win over East Limestone before falling to Hazel Green 2-1.
Brewer The Lady Patriots finished 1-3 in the tournament. Their lone win came over Geraldine with losses to Arab, Lauderdale County and Lawrence County.
They split a tri-match with Randolph and Madison Academy earlier in the week. They defeated Randolph 2-1 and fell to Madison Academy 2-0.
Danville
The Lady Hawks split a tri-match with Corner and Hayden Sept. 10. They defeated Hayden 2-0 and lost to Corner 2-0.
Falkville
The Lady Blue Devils played two tri-matches last week. On Monday, they split with Lindsay Lane (2-0 loss) and Decatur Heritage (2-1 win). Then, on Tuesday, they split with Hanceville (2-0 win) and Vinemont (2-0 loss).
