George Homer Green
Falkville Funeral Service for George Homer Green, 81, of Falkville will be Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Bro. Nathan Green officiating. Burial in Bell Springs Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Grace Baptist Church. Mr. Green was born January 28, 1943, in Ft. Pierce, Florida to Andrew Jackson Green and Ruby Delilah Wildman Green. He passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, two Brothers, two sisters and two grandsons. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Green; son, Nathan Green (Kim); daughters, Karen Key (Jeremy), Natalie Oliver (Michael), Laura Reeves (Terry), Carmen Lowery (Donnie); brothers, Jack Green, Eddie Green and Ray Rose; sisters, Jane McDonald and Marie Beasley; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Peck Funeral Home.
William “Bill” Allen Medley, Sr.
Ardmore Funeral Service for William “Bill” Allen Medley, Sr., 80, of Ardmore was held Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Mt. Tabor Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Medley was born February 10, 1944, in Madison County, AL to Robert Monroe Medley and Hattie Sue Medley. He passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, at his residence. William was born to a sharecropper and grew up in the 40s and 50s. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sandra Medley, two sons, William Allen Medley, Jr. and Robert Monroe Medley; three brothers and one sister. William retired from Northrop Grumman after 25 years where he worked as a truck driver.
Survivors include his daughter, Melissa Medley; three grandsons and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearer will be Jason Fourroux.
Farris Franklin Hughes
Falkville Funeral service for Farris Franklin Hughes, 84, was held Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doug Raburn officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Hughes died on Monday, September 2, 2024, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born August 12, 1940, in Lawrence County, to Clarence Alford Hughes and Leeth Mae McCormick Hughes. He was employed at Baker Wood Reels, as a foreman, prior to his retirement. Preceding him in death were his wife, Geraldine Hughes; a son, John Michael Hughes; his parents; two brothers, James and William Hughes and a sister, Virginia Hughes Wilson. Pallbearers will be Jason Edge, Claude Edge, Willard Asherbranner, Rex Asherbranner, David Crowe and Terry Whittenberg.
Frances Mae Lorance Bishop
Decatur Funeral service for Frances Mae Lorance Bishop, 85, was held Monday, September 9, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Cecil Berry and Bro. Gary Dobbs officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in New Friendship Cemetery.
Mrs. Bishop passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born May 1, 1939, in Morgan County, to Marvin Roth Lorance and Annie Mae Berry Lorance. She was a homemaker for her family and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. He was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her son, Malekye Buckland; daughters, Kathy Garza and Shayla Buckland and a host of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
