Blue Devils race past West End for first victory

The Falkville Blue Devils picked up their first win of the season this past Friday night with a 42-0 win at West End.
Falkville scored with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Landon Powers to Logan Fowler. They extended their lead to 14-0 with a Denver Comstock one-yard run to close out the first quarter.
Powers scored on a 24-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter to push the lead to 22-0. Right before halftime, Powers connected with Eli Harris on a 23-yard touchdown pass to make the score 28-0 going into the half.
The Blue Devils got an 11-yard touchdown pass from Powers to Fowler in the third and a 33-yard touchdown run by Asher Lentz in the fourth to cap the scoring.
Powers finished 11-of-18 for 161 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 39 yards rushing and a touchdown on four carries.
Lentz led the rushing attack with 53 yards and a touchdown on four carries, while Comstock added 51 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
Fowler had four recep-tions for 56 yards and two touchdowns, while Harris had two receptions for 47 yards and a score. Cash Lawrimore added three receptions for 34 yards.
The Blue Devils finished with 376 total yards, 206 rushing and 170 passing, while holding West End to 42 total yards.
“It was a good team win,” coach Seth Ward said. “We had a lot of guys contribute on offense and our defense played with a ton of energy and we opened it up for our linebackers by playing really well on the defensive front.” Falkville (1-1) will host Coosa Christian (2-1) in a region matchup on Friday.
