James Estes
Somerville James Estes of Somerville, 87, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born on Sunday, May 6, 1937, in Tennessee to Marion Edward Estes and Vearl ‘Granny’ Ramsey Estes. A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Bro. David Estes and directed by Peck Funeral Home. Burial followed in Center Grove Cemetery in Cullman County. Visitation took place on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
James had a fulfilling career as a driver for Baker Transport, worked as a mechanic, and engaged in farming before his retirement. In his later years, he enjoyed attending Wallace State, where he pursued his passion for genealogy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Annette Worthington; his brother, Donald Estes; and his sister, Willodean Estes.
James is survived by his wife, Marion ‘Pam’ Estes; his sons, Jimmy Estes (Lisa); Keith Estes (Charlene); Jason Estes (Sabrina); Jim Estes (Tammy); his brothers, David Estes (Myra); Larry Estes; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
