Hartselle races past Jackson-Olin, picks up first win

Hartselle picked up their first win of the season with a 41-0 win over Jackson-Olin this past Friday night. Tigers’ quarterbacks Noah and Carter Lee accounted for five total touchdowns in the first half in helping Hartselle give first-year head coach Bert Newton his first win.
The Tigers jumped out to a 20-0 first quarter lead with a strong running game and a strong defensive effort. Carter Lee put up 7-0 with a two-yard rushing touchdown. The score was followed up by a Hayden Gray interception that led to an 11-yard Jaheim Pruitt touchdown run that pushed the lead to 13-0. A Jackson-Olin fumble on their next possession was recovered by Porter Simmons. Noah Lee capped off the first quarter scoring with a five-yard touchdown run and a 20-0 lead.
Noah and Carter Leed took to the air in the second quarter combing for three passing touchdowns. Noah Leed tossed a 31-yard touchdown pass and then a 32-yard touchdown pass to Cain Falciani to extend their lead to 34-0. Carter Lee capped off the scoring with a five-yard touchdown pass to Aiden Pointer to make the score 41-0 heading into halftime.
The Tigers finished with 150 yards passing and 146 yards rushing in the win. Noah Lee finished 8-of-14 for 142 yards and two touchdowns, while Carter Lee was 1-of-5 for eight yards and a score.
Jaylen Morris led the rushing attack with 44 yards on five carries, while Jai Morrow added 40 yards on 11 carries. Pruiit finished with 32 yards and a score, while Carter Lee added 25 yards.
Cain Falciani led the receivers with three catches for 58 yards and a touchdown, while Aiden Pointer had two catches for 40 yards and a touchdown. Brody Holt had one catch for 31 yards and a score.
Hartselle (1-1) heads into their bye week before getting started with 6A Region 7 play on the road against Columbia at Milton Frank Stadium Sept. 12.
