Volleyball: Hartselle opens with sweep of Addison

The Hartselle Lady Tigers opened the 2024 volleyball season with a 3-0 victory over 1A no. 2 Addison last Thursday. Abigail Preuitt led the way with 12 kills and six digs in the victory. Mary Frances Itsede added nine kills and three aces, while Katie Gillott added eight kills and three digs.
Priceville
The Lady Bulldogs split a tri-match with 5A powers Arab and West Point, losing to Arab and defeating West Point. Leah Childress led the way with 14 kills and 11 digs. Abby Langlois added 11 kills, while Josie Childress added 24 assists, nine digs and three kills. Maddi Kennedy had 13 digs.
Brewer
The Lady Patriots split their tri-match with Decatur and Buckhorn. They defeated Decatur with Cheynne Lucas leading the way with seven kills and five blocks. Ella Holmes added four kills.
In their loss to Buckhorn, Blakelyn Faulkner had a team-high four kills, while Holmes and Lucas added three kills each.
Danville
The Lady Hawks opened the season with losses to 7A Albertville and 5A Gunterville. Josie Bailey led the Lady Hawks with 15 assists, while Callie Henderson added five kills.
Danville split their four matches at the Lawrence County Serve Off, defeating Hatton and Whitesburg Christian, while losing to Lauderdale County and West Limestone. Wendy Reyes led the Lady HAwks with 29 kills, while Addie Hill added 19 kills and Henderson had 18 kills. Carly Hensly served up six aces.
