Patricia Roberts Hampton

Patricia Diane Roberts Hampton was born November 27, 1949 in Hartselle, AL to Allie and Estelle McCormick Roberts. She passed from this life on August 23, 2024 in the loving presence of her family. Funeral was at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 26, at Peck Funeral Home followed with Rev. Bobby Ray Halbrooks and Rev. Jason McAbee officiating. Burial was held in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Patsy was a graduate of Danville High School and the Jacksonville Police Academy. She served her community for several years as one of the first female deputy sheriffs in Morgan County. She was also Litter Control Officer for Morgan County where she implemented an anti-littering campaign for Morgan County Schools. Pat and her husband, Gary Hampton, with the Hampton family, were proprietors of the Pig Stand Barbeque in Hartselle for 20 years. She later was the “Piemaker Lady” for Pigskin All Sports Barbeque. She was retired from the Hartselle Parks and Recreation Department at the Sparkman Civic Center. She was a member of the former Basham Methodist Church. Patsy loved to travel! She loved going on cruises with family and friends, weekend family girl trips and day trips enjoying the simple beauty of the Amish countryside or driving up the Natchez Trace. She also loved attending music concerts of her favorite artists and groups. Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gary Lamar Hampton. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters; Mandi George (Jimmy) and Nikki Echols (Steve); seven grandchildren, Haley Curtis McAbee, Karsyn Echols, Hali Echols Marquette (Bailey), Gracie George Reaves (Collin), Abby George Nagel (Richie), Levi George (Cassie) and Cal George; seven great-grandchildren, McKynlee McAbee, Dexton McAbee, Zoe Nagel, Tripp Nagel,Brock George, Emilee George and Vivian Reaves; sister, Carolyn Lane (Pat); niece, Monica Lane Doherty (Jim) and nephew, Mark Lane. Pallbearers will be Cal George, Levi George, Mark Lane, David Christian, Roger Echols, Richie Nagel and Collin Reaves. The family wishes to thank the staff at Decatur Morgan Hospital, USA Decatur Rehab, Dr. Susan Persall, and Hartselle Family Medicine for the thoughtful and compassionate care during her illness of the last six months and special and heartfelt thanks to Haley Stuart, CRPN.
