Meet new Morgan football coaches entering 2024 season

It was another busy football offseason in Morgan County.
There will be three programs who will have new coaches roaming their sidelines this fall.
Bert Newton, Hartselle – Newton replaces Bryan Moore, who left for 7A Opelika after four years as the Tigers’ head man. Newton has been the defensive coordinator for the Tigers dating back to 2017 when he worked under Bod Godsey. He left Hartselle for one season to take the DC position at Vestavia Hills before returning the following season. He was named the Broyles National Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018.
Seth Parker, Priceville Parker replaces Chris Foster, who left for 6A Brookwood. Parkers comes to Priceville from Bob Jones, where he served as the Patriots’ offensive coordinator for the last three seasons. Before his time as the OC, Parker coached wide receivers for the Patriots.
John Ritter, Decatur – Ritter replaces Aairon Savage, who resigned following his first season at Decatur. Ritter comes to Decatur after six seasons at Russellville. He has a 85-42 career record in 11 seasons at Russellville, West Morgan and Red Bay with 10 playoff appearances. He has one losing season in his 11-year career.
Football season in Morgan County kicks off next Friday night as Hartselle plays Austin at home, Priceville plays Columbia and Decatur takes on Buckborn.
