Priceville’s annual car show gives back to the community in more ways than one.
The 27th annual event – set for 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 17 – is expected to draw roughly 380 vehicles for display and about 3,000 spectators to Veterans Park. The rain date is Aug. 24.
In addition to showcasing cars and trucks from the 1910s to the 2020s, proceeds from the event are used for the improvement and upkeep of Veterans Park, said City Clerk Shannon Weissend.
“This event is what helped build the new stage and restrooms at the park,” Weissend said.
Some of the highlights of the event will include food trucks, vendors, many different types of cars and trucks, live music by Natchez Trace and a silent auction to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Priceville.
“This is an event that brings out all ages,” Weissend said. “It is a time our community comes together and enjoys the day with friends and family.” Mayor Sam Heflin said he likes the event because it is fun but also because it brings revenue for park improvements.
Those who want to show cars must pay a $20 per entry fee and vendors who wish to sell their wares must pay a $25 fee and have a $49 business license, if they don’t already have one, Weissend said.
There will be informational vendors, a free kiddie area, raffle prizes, 50/50 drawing and carparticipant-only raffles. To end the night, there will be fireworks in the park.
Car participants will enter the park from Bethel Road.
Those wanting to participate by becoming a vendor can call the Priceville Municipal Building at 256-355-5476, ext. 0.
