Paul Mack Jones
New Bern, North Carolina Paul Mack Jones, 99, of New Bern, North Carolina went home to be with his Lord on Friday, July 26, 2024, with family by his side. He was born on June 19, 1925, to the late James and Virginia Jones.
Paul proudly served his country in WWII. He was discharged in December 1946 and married Inez Garner, the love of his life on January 25, 1947. They were happily married for 69 years prior to her death in 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, father and mother-in-law Irvin and Flora Garner, brother Harry Jones, sisters Ruby Jones, Ruth Hardy, Ella Moon, Helen Luker, and son-in-law Jim Brown.
He is survived by children Deb Brown; James Jones (Kelly); Becky Collins (Dalton); nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 greatgreat grandchildren; and sister Modeana Hardin.
Paul’s life was transformed at the age of 30 when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He served the Lord faithfully for over 60 years in many capacities for his church. Singing and whistling hymns was one of his favorite pastimes. As an avid college football fan, he always rooted for Alabama.
Paul leaves behind many extended family and friends, all of whom respected and admired him. The kind of man he was, can be summed up in a quote from one of his nephews: “If there was any man in this world to mold your life after, it was Uncle Paul.” There was a celebration of his life on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Cotten Funeral Home, New Bern NC officiated by Jason Senn.
A celebration of life will be held at Round Top Church, Falkville on Saturday, August 10, 2024. A service, officiated by nephew Phillip Hardin, will be at 2:00 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service; burial to follow at Round Top Cemetery. Arrangements will be handled by Peck Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
