Carole Nevins
Danville Carole M. Nevins, 89, of Danville, AL, passed away on July 22, 2024. She was the widow of James L. Nevins, of Danville, and is survived by two sons, Lawrence J. Nevins of Danville, Alabama and Michael T. Nevins of Taylor, Texas, as well as twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Carole, a retired schoolteacher, and along with her husband, owned and operated a Macadamia nut farm in Hilo, Hawaii for 10 years. She owned a gift and furniture store in New Hampshire and served in the New Hampshire legislature for two terms. She also served as secretary for the Republican Women Party in Texas, and secretary for the American Legion Auxiliary as well as other volunteer organizations. She graduated from Becker Jr. College in 1954 with an associate’s degree in the medical field, followed by a bachelor’s degree from Rivier College as well as a graduate certificate in Talented and Gifted Education from Notre Dame College. Carole was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a two-year mission with her husband, on the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota, supervising seminaries and institutes.
A Memorial Service will be held on August 10, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Decatur, Alabama.
